Bruce O. King, 73, of Kingsville, MD, passed away peacefully at home in his sleep.

Bruce was the beloved son of Muriel Ehrlich King and Owen King. He shared 40 wonderful years of marriage with his cherished wife, Cindy (Anderson) King. Together, they built a loving family, raising four children: his late son, Nick Traut; daughters Heather Semies (and her husband, Mike) and Erica Bowers (and her late husband, Scott); and son Chris King (and his wife, Stacey).

Known affectionately as “Pop,” Bruce adored his grandchildren: Madison and Peyton Semies, Kyleigh and Carsyn King, and Tristan and Kaya Bowers. He created lasting memories with them, including skydiving with Madison—twice!

Bruce was deeply committed to his community. A lifelong member of the Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company, he served as president in years 1984 and 1985. He was also an active leader with the Kingsville Boy Scouts, frequently driving the troop bus on their many adventures. At Salem United Methodist Church, Bruce not only worshipped but also shared fellowship with the “underground coffee group,” a community he treasured.

Professionally, Bruce worked for many years as an ad representative at The Aegis newspaper, where he was known for his dedication and camaraderie with his coworkers. After retiring, he took on new roles, first at Kingsville Market and later alongside Cindy at Desserts by Rita, delivering wedding cakes and serving customers with a smile. Even during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Bruce found purpose and joy in staying busy at the shop.

Bruce’s warmth, humor, and love for people were undeniable, and he formed connections that left an indelible mark on everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many lives he touched.
