Magnolia Elementary Partnership

Salem has partnered Holding Handswith Magnolia Elementary School in Edgewood, Maryland to encourage, help and celebrate their students. Our outreach to Magnolia includes gathering school supplies not only for the beginning of the school year but throughout the academic season, mentoring through the F.R.O.G.S. program, the Backpack of Blessings program and our Christmas donations through the Gift Tree. A detail of each of these programs is listed below along with contact and form information.

Beginning Year School Supplies

School supplies are gathered in the narthex and distributed to the students of Magnolia at the beginning of every school year. Donations can be dropped off before and after worship services or by contacting the church office.

Mentoring through the F.R.O.G.S. program

F.R.O.G.S. stands for Friends and Relatives Of Great Students and is operated through Magnolia's Title 9 services. Anyone who is willing to have a background check can be a FROGS mentor. As a mentor you can choose how often you wish to serve (once a week, twice a month, etc), how long (half day, full day) and what grade level (1-5). You may also request a particular subject such as Math or Reading. FROGS participate in the classroom giving one-on-one attention to a student or small group of students. Sign-up can be done through the church office.
